Don´t be scared to try

I know what fear feels like. That twisting in your stomach as you approach the mounting block. The way your heart pounds when a horse so much as flicks an ear. The tightness in your chest, the voice in your head whispering: What if you fall? What if you fail? I know because I’ve been there. There was a time when horses were my safe place, my sanctuary. And then, something happened — a fall, a spook, a moment of helplessness—that changed everything. Suddenly, the thing I loved most became the thing I feared most. I would watch others ride with ease, longing to feel that freedom again, but fear kept its grip on me. I questioned whether I would ever get back to the rider I once was—or if I even wanted to.

Maybe you're here because you feel the same way. Maybe you've had a bad fall, a close call, or simply lost confidence over time. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know one thing: You are not alone. Fear can make you feel isolated, ashamed, even weak. But fear is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign that you care. That somewhere inside, beneath the doubt and anxiety, you still want this. You still love horses. And that means there is hope.

This book book is not about pushing through fear with sheer willpower or pretending it doesn't exist. It’s about understanding it, working with it, and slowly, gently, finding your way back to confidence. It’s about learning to trust yourself and your horse again—step by step, breath by breath. I won’t promise you a quick fix. But I will promise you this: if you are willing to take this journey, you can ride again. You will find joy again. And one day, maybe sooner than you think, you will sit in the saddle, feel the power of a horse beneath you, and smile—not because the fear is gone, but because you’ve learned how to move forward in spite of it.
